Vorstermann Lucas Marcus Brutus – Burin, 1638

Burin proof on ochre laid paper, late edition, marked ‘Ex marmore antiquo’. Engraving by Lucas Vorstermann based on a drawing by Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640) of an antique marble representing Brutus that actually belonged to him, and which he therefore had engraved by one of his engravers.

Condition: trace of mounting on reverse with paper residue.
