Gilles Rousselet, draughtsman, engraver and print dealer, born in Paris in 1610, died in the same city on July 15, 1686. Father of Jean Rousselet, we do not say who is his master but his style is inspired by the manner of Bloemaert. His work is considerable. Le Blanc catalogs one hundred and four pieces, of all genres and after the French and Italian masters. He was very close to Charles Le Brun, of whom he reproduced several works. Received as an academician on April 14, 1663, he took part in only one exhibition, in 1664. He died blind at the Gobelins on July 15, 1686.(Bénézit)
